Working with requirements¶
Requirements describe what the system must do. In the Windows application, you can create documents and chapters, import DOC or DOCX files and create linked test cases from chapters. For browser editing, see Test cases and requirements in the browser.
Create documents and chapters¶
- Right-click Requirements in the project tree and select New document.
- Enter the document name and confirm with OK.
- Right-click the document and select New chapter.
- Enter the chapter title and content, then confirm with OK.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for additional chapters.
Import a Word document¶
Right-click Requirements, a requirements folder, document or chapter. Under Import/Export, select the Word import command. Choose the DOC or DOCX file and select the chapters to import. The chapter hierarchy is retained.
If you intend to import revisions later, use the wizard's document preparation option before the first import. It helps identify existing chapters during subsequent imports.
Import revisions¶
Start the import from the existing document or chapter. For existing chapters, choose whether to overwrite them, skip them or import them as additional new chapters.
When overwriting chapters, review and update any test cases previously created from them yourself. The completion message reports overwritten chapters and chapters that could not be imported.
See the Requirements workflow for reviews and creating test cases.
